Order of OntarioThe Order of Ontario is the province’s highest civilian honour. An Ontarian who has shown outstanding qualities of individual excellence and achievement in any field is eligible for nomination.The James Bartleman Indigenous Youth Creative Writing Award commemorates the legacy of Ontario’s 27th Lieutenant Governor by recognizing up to six Indigenous students for their creative writing talent. Each recipient receives a $2,500 award.
Lincoln M. Alexander AwardThe Lincoln M. Alexander Award commemorates the legacy of Ontario’s 24th Lieutenant Governor by recognizing three young people who have shown strong leadership in eliminating racial discrimination. Two recipients in the Student category and one recipient in the Community category will each receive a $5,000 cash award.
Hilary M. Weston ScholarshipThe Hilary M. Weston Scholarship commemorates the legacy of Ontario’s 26th Lieutenant Governor and is awarded to two graduate-level social work students who specialize in the area of mental health. Successful applicants each receive a one-time award of $7,500.
Ontario Medal for Young VolunteersThis medal program honours outstanding contributions made by exceptional youth volunteers across the province and is the highest honour a young person can achieve for their contributions to the province.
Ontario Medal for Good CitizenshipThis medal program honours individuals for their exceptional long-term efforts and outstanding contributions to the well-being of their communities throughout the province.
Ontario Medal for Police BraveryThis medal recognizes police officers for individual acts of outstanding courage. Nominations must be made through the nominee’s Police Service and endorsed by their Chief of Police or the Commissioner of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) for police officers working in the OPP. Nominations must be submitted by the nominee’s Police Service.
Ontario Medal for Paramedic BraveryRecognizes individual acts of outstanding courage and bravery performed by members of Ontario’s paramedic services. Nominations must be made through the nominee’s paramedic service and endorsed by their Paramedic Chief. Nominations must be submitted by the nominee’s paramedic service.This medal recognizes firefighters for individual acts of outstanding courage. Nominations must be made through the nominee’s Fire Service and endorsed by their Fire Chief. Nominations must be submitted by the nominee’s Fire Service.This award commemorates the legacy of Ontario’s 28th Lieutenant Governor by recognizing Ontarians who have gone above and beyond to improve accessibility for people with disabilities.
