PERSONS CHARGED WITH A SEX OFFENCE TAKE NOTICE THAT:

As a person who is currently charged with a sex offence(s) as defined in Christopher’s Law (Sex Offender Registry), 2000, as amended, and who is resident in Ontario, you will, if convicted or found not criminally responsible on account of mental disorder for a sex offence(s), be required to report to the police service where you reside as required by the Act.

OR

PERSONS CONVICTED OF OR FOUND NOT CRIMINALLY RESPONSIBLE ON ACCOUNT OF MENTAL DISORDER FOR A SEX OFFENCE TAKE NOTICE THAT :

(1) As a person who has been convicted of a sex offence(s) as defined in Christopher’s Law (Sex Offender Registry), 2000, as amended, and who is resident in Ontario, you are required under the Act to report to the police service where you reside no later than 7 days after:

  1. you are released from custody after serving the custodial portion of your sentence for the offence(s); or
  2. your conviction if you do not receive a custodial sentence; or
  3. you are released from custody on parole in respect of a sex crime; or
  4. you are ordered to serve an intermittent sentence in respect to a sex crime; or
  5. you are released from custody pending the determination of an appeal in relation to a sex offence; or
  6. you become a resident of Ontario;

OR

(2) As a person who has been found not criminally responsible on account of mental disorder for a sex offence(s) as defined in Christopher’s Law (Sex Offender Registry), 2000, as amended, and who is resident in Ontario, you are required under the Act to report to the police service where you reside no later than 7 days after:

  1. receiving a conditional discharge.

OR

(3) As a person made subject to an order in Form 52 under section 490.012 on or after December 5, 2008, for an offence referred to in paragraph (b) or (f) of the definition of “designated offence” in subsection 490.011(1) of the Criminal Code (Canada) and who is resident in Ontario, you are required under Christopher’s Law (Sex Offender Registry), 2000, as amended, to report to the police service where you reside no later than 7 days after:

  1. you are released from custody after serving the custodial portion of your sentence for the offence(s); or
  2. your conviction if you do not receive a custodial sentence; or
  3. you are released from custody on parole in respect of a sex crime; or
  4. you are ordered to serve an intermittent sentence in respect to a sex crime; or
  5. you are released from custody pending the determination of an appeal in relation to a sex offence.

OR


(4) As a person who became subject to an obligation under section 490.02901 of the Criminal Code (Canada) (Form 54) to comply with the Sex Offender Information Registration Act (Canada) on or after June 20, 2011, and who is resident in Ontario, you are required under Christopher’s Law (Sex Offender Registry), 2000 as amended, to report to the police service where you reside no later than 7 days after:

  1. you become subject to that obligation;or

OR

(5) As a person who became subject to an obligation under section 36.1 of the International Transfer of Offenders Act (Canada) (Form 1) to comply with the Sex Offender Information Registration Act (Canada) on or after June 20, 2011, and who is resident in Ontario, you are required under Christopher’s Law (Sex Offender Registry), 2000, as amended, to report to the police service where you reside no later than 7 days after:

  1. you become subject to that obligation

SUBSEQUENT REPORTING OBLIGATIONS
For the duration of your reporting period you are required by Christopher’s Law (Sex Offender Registry), 2000, as amended, to report to the police service where you reside no later than 7 days:

  1. after you change your address; or
  2. after you become a resident in Ontario; or
  3. before you cease to be a resident in Ontario; or
  4. after you change your name; or

AND annually, on a day that is not later than one year after, and not earlier than 11 months after your previous reporting date.

OFFENCE TO FAIL TO COMPLY

Under Christopher’s Law (Sex Offender Registry), 2000, as amended, any person who fails to comply with the reporting requirements of the Act is guilty of an offence and upon conviction is liable of a fine up to $25,000 or imprisonment for a term of not more than one year, or both, and up to two years less a day for a subsequent offence.
